Hello, my name is Michael Ganio.
Welcome to this website!
The work you see here is a sampling from my ongoing career as a scenic and costume designer in the American theatre and opera worlds. I have tried to include designs from companies both large and small, created with budgets both modest and generous. While some of the designs were created for the more common, proscenium stage, much of my work has been for thrust and arena venues. In addition to my professional career, I am currently teaching design at Dartmouth College.
I began my own training at The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in California, and received my Undergraduate degree from Webster University in Saint Louis. In time I received my graduate degree from New York University.
Over the years I have been privileged to meet, study with, and be influenced by the work of Richard Hay, John Conklin, Ralph Funicello, Robert Blackman, Dorothy Marshall, Lowell Detweiller, Peter Sargent, Oliver Smith, Lloyd Burlingame, Barbara Sellers, and Donovan Marley.
When not in the studio or in the theatre, I enjoy spending time with, of course, family and friends. I also might be found traveling, reading, or walking quietly in the woods.
In closing I would like to thank the hundreds of carpenters, painters, prop artisans, and fellow collaborators who made the work you see here a reality onstage.

Il lavoro che vedete qui rappresentato è un campione della mia carriera come progettista di scenografie e costumi nel mondo del teatro e dell'opera. Ho cercato di includere progetti sia di aziende grandi che piccole, realizzati con budget modesti oppure generosi. Mentre alcuni progetti sono stati creati per il più comune proscenio, gran parte del mio lavoro è stato sviluppato per luoghi all’ aperto e Arene.
Oltre alla mia carriera professionale, attualmente sto insegnando disegno al Dartmouth College.
Ho iniziato la mia formazione presso il Pacific Conservatory delle Arti dello Spettacolo in California, e ho ottenuto la laurea triennale presso la Webster University di Saint Louis. Successivamente mi sono laureato presso la New York University.

Quando non sono nel mio studio o nel teatro, mi piace passare il tempo con la famiglia e con gli amici. Oppure mi potete trovare in viaggio, a leggere, o a camminare tranquillamente nei boschi.
